The Tiny Rag Doll World<\/h2>\n\n\n

There is the “big” “real” world — and there is the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are stories and landscapes and adventures in the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em> (not that there aren’t any in the Real World). My crafts are always accompanied with stories — some become fully realized, some remain nebulous. Some of my crafted characters reveal their names, some do not. Some stubbornly refuse to be named! And some are like actors, and keep changing their names to suit changing adventures and a changing wardrobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chardon-sur-l\u2019Auv\u00e9z\u00e8re<\/strong> is a village in the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em>. There is an Auv\u00e9z\u00e8re river in France, in a beautiful region of the south-west. Chardon is French for thistle<\/em>. There is also, in fact, a Chardon locality in France, but it’s nowhere near the Auv\u00e9z\u00e8re river in the Real World. In the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em>, the combination of Chardon and Auv\u00e9z\u00e8re becomes a pleasing place-name, and that’s that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where is Chardon?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So is Chardon-sur-l\u2019Auv\u00e9z\u00e8re<\/strong> (of the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em>) actually in France? Even an imaginary France?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ummm… no<\/em>. It’s in the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em>. And the Tiny Rag Doll World<\/em> is… itself. Wherever it needs to be. Whenever it needs to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a miniature world, more-or-less in inch-scale (1:12 scale). It’s not a French Country or a Provence world, nor is it a historical world, although one is not likely to encounter high technology there. Anachronisms? Probably. Technology? Unlikely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not American Country Style either, or Rustic, or any specific style at all, and I made the decision to not make my miniatures to a perfect scale. Rather, I adjust the sizes for a pleasing effect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So are we there yet?<\/h2>\n\n\n

Not quite. We stopped over in a small cabin, but it really was too small, and besides, it was unfinished. Miss Ruth Ann objected to the cramped attic where a proper bed wouldn’t fit, so we moved on in search of a bigger dwelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Really, her table barely fits on the first floor, how would she entertain any guests? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides, she’s waiting for the delivery of a few more pieces of furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
